Choose an installer for your system

V2Ray Client Downloads

For desktop, start with v2rayN; for Android, start with v2rayNG. Choose a package by operating system, CPU architecture, and installer format, then import your existing subscription.

Windows client

One client, v2rayN, with two interface editions. Both downloads are for x64.

Classic WPF edition

Classic, proven interface

Download WPF · x64

For your first install, try Desktop, whose layout follows a similar pattern across desktop platforms. WPF keeps the classic Windows workflow and suits users who know where to find the familiar menus and settings. The main difference is the interface branch—not a guarantee that one protocol will be faster.

The download is a ZIP archive. Extract it to a separate folder you can write to, then run the installer inside. Don’t launch it from the archive preview. Back up your settings before switching editions, and test the other edition in a separate folder to avoid two instances competing for local ports or changing the system proxy at the same time.

After installation: setup and updates

Start with the simplest working connection, then add routing rules and expand which traffic is handled. Confirm installation, service startup, and app access as three separate steps.

01 / Configuration source

Get your own subscription

The installer provides the client app, not a usable subscription. Check that you trust the subscription source and are authorized to use it. Subscription URLs often contain access credentials—don’t share them in public screenshots, chat logs, or support requests. Import one known-good group first, then check that its connection settings appear.

02 / First connection

Change one setting at a time

On desktop, first check the selected connection and system proxy; on Android, approve the VPN request. Once basic access works, try routing rules, per-app proxying, or TUN. If something breaks, revert the last change and note the error so you don’t confuse an installation problem with a network issue.

03 / Ongoing maintenance

Back up before updating

Before updating, save subscription groups, manually added configurations, and custom routing and DNS settings. Backups may contain sensitive information, so keep them somewhere secure. Quit the old instance before starting the new version. Then check the listening ports and proxy mode to make sure your usual traffic still works.

V2Ray download and installation FAQ

Rule out package format and architecture issues first, then check the client configuration. Expand a question below to read the answer.

Which v2rayN edition should you choose: Desktop or classic WPF?

For a first install, start with Desktop for its modern cross-platform interface. Choose WPF if you prefer the classic layout. Both are v2rayN editions. Back up your settings before updating, and test the other interface branch in a separate folder before switching.

Should you download the arm64 or universal Android version?

Most phones released after 2015 can start with arm64, but confirm that the device supports 64-bit apps. If you’re unsure of the architecture, choose the universal version. If installation fails, check the Android version, download status, and whether the installed app has a conflicting signature.

Can you use the same configuration with v2rayNG and v2flyNG?

They use different cores, so similar client names don’t mean identical features. Whether a subscription works in both depends on protocol, transport, and core support. Keep the original configuration before switching, check each setting after import, and avoid running both clients’ VPN connections at once.

Why can’t you connect right after installing the client?

The client manages connection settings; its installer does not include a usable subscription. You’ll need a subscription or server configuration you’re authorized to use. Import it, select a connection, then set the system proxy or approve Android’s VPN connection request.

What should you save before updating the client?

Save subscription groups, local configurations, custom routing and DNS settings, and note your proxy mode and listening ports. Backups may contain sensitive information, so store them somewhere secure. Quit the client before updating, then check that your settings remain and reconnect.

What should you check if an installer won’t open or reports incompatibility?

Check your operating system, CPU architecture, and package format, then make sure the download completed. Extract Windows ZIP files first; on macOS, choose the Apple Silicon or Intel build; on Linux, match your distribution’s package manager. If the issue persists, note the exact error instead of repeatedly disabling security settings.
